The year I turned 50, I resolved to begin the study of yoga. After many years of running, biking and power walking, and the numerous injuries that correspond to this lifestyle, my body and mind was ready for something different. I entered this new “exercise” regime with a mindset of weight and health maintenance. My first exposure was to the very physically rigorous style of Asthanga yoga. Three years of this daily practice left me with a well toned body and some serious knee and hip issues. The powers that be led me to One Yoga Center where I experienced Hatha classes. The gentle and restorative classes hooked me immediately. After practicing with Tracey for about a year and a half, I knew that my practice would never be the same. Teacher training has been an enlightened path to spiritual and physical growth and insight. My background in Education & Psychology was a natural fit for Yoga philosophy. It is my hope that my teaching will be infused with all elements of my formal educational background, life history and spirituality. My goal is to continue to grow through the many lessons my students will offer me. A special note of appreciation to my very first yoga guide and teacher, Leslie Hadley; Leslie has been my inspiration and role model throughout this magical journey.
My future plans are to study at Kripalu, study Iyengar and Vinyassa style yoga.
At 56 years of age, I know that my yoga future will include all ages of students, many of which will be baby-boomers like myself. My dream is to one day own my own spiritual yoga center and to spread the joy and peace and growth that yoga has given me.
