200-Hour Teacher Training Program

The beginner 200-hour training program actually equals 230 hours. Meeting regularly each month – mostly on weekends – we learn the major components of Yoga. This includes the basic Asanas (yoga poses), their alignment, modifications, variations & appropriate adjustments – both verbal & hands-on – as well as the different types of pranayama (breath techniques), Mudras (hand gestures), Mantras (sacred sounds) & Meditation techniques. The 200 hr program will also include lecture on the human Anatomy (Skeletal & Muscular Systems) and Yoga Philosophy & Ethics. Practice teaching, observing & assisting other teachers, home study and private instruction with the director of training also complete this program.

Home Study
There are approximately 50 Home study hours required for the 200 hr program. These include study & practice of the principles taught in class as well as take-home tests, readings, structuring classes, essays & written hand-in homework.
* Although not required in the 200-hour program, we highly recommend taking a regular yoga class each week (preferably at one – Yoga Center).
There are no prerequisites for this program other than the desire and willingness to learn.

Training Schedule
Meets 1 full weekend per month as follows:
Fridays 6 pm – 9 pm: 3 hrs
Saturdays 9 am – 6 pm: 8.5 hrs
Sundays 9 am – 5 pm: 7.5 hrs
Meets an addition 9 hr day 1 weekend a month.
In addition to the monthly training sessions, students must complete the following:
- 2 Practice Teachings
- Observe & Assist other teachers twice
- Private Instruction with Director – 3 hrs
